For car washes, this brush is ideal for prep stations in express tunnels, or as a general cleaning brush if you offer full service hand washing. It can be used as a foam brush in self-serve bays, but please note that you'll need to adapt the thread to be compatible with those types of handles.
For professional detailers and car enthusiasts, this is an excellent general purpose brush to clean the exterior of vehicles. It's capable of handling everything from small cars and crossovers to large trucks, vans, and SUVs. Use it in conjunction with a bucket of soap solution, foam gun or cannon, and/or a high-pressure spray wand.
Despite the name, Nog Hair doesn't have anything to do with the drink you might have around the holidays. Nog Hair, sometimes shortened to Noghair, brushes use special synthetic nylon bristles that mimic the feel and performance of hogs hair. As you may have guessed, the name comes from combining the words "nylon" and "hogs hair."
Genuine hogs hair, also referred to as boars hair, is generally considered the best brush for car wash and auto detailing as far as performance. The bristles are incredibly soft, hold foam, and maintain their shape for a long time. Plus, they have naturally feathered ends that prevent avoid scratching, spread cleaning product, and provide excellent overall cleaning ability.
The trouble with hogs hair brushes is that these bristles are increasingly difficult to source, which drives up the price of the brushes. Although they are fantastic for their purpose, many operators do not want to pay the upfront cost or deal with the potential problem of their preferred brush being out of stock. That is where Nog Hair brushes come into play.
Other synthetic bristle brushes are inexpensive, but rarely offer the same premium performance you get from hogs hair. Bristles are typically stiff, don't hold foam particularly well, and pose the threat of scratching. They may be useful for hard scrubbing on vehicle surfaces that aren't vulnerable to damage, but they're not the ideal option for most customers' cars and trucks.
Nog Hair brushes offer a happy medium between the two options. The bristles are made with synthetic materials that are easy to source, but they're carefully designed to be similar in shape and performance to genuine hogs hair. It's the perfect compromise between affordability and performance!
Nog hair brushes, while usually more expensive than standard synthetic bristle brushes, offer considerable savings versus real hogs hair brushes. In most cases, Nog Hair brushes will be about half or even a third of the price of brushes with genuine hog hair bristles.
Proper brush care is essential for maintaining cleaning performance and avoiding car damage while ensuring the longevity of your investment. As often as possible, preferably after each use, thoroughly rinse the brush with clean water to remove any lingering soap, dirt, and debris from the bristles. While washing, take care to gently agitate the bristles with your hand or a soft spray nozzle—never use high-pressure settings directly on the brush, as this can damage the fibers and shorten the brush’s usable life. Let the brush air dry in a well-ventilated area, keeping it out of direct sunlight to prevent the nylon bristles from becoming brittle or warped over time.
Regularly check the block and bristle base for stubborn grime or chemical buildup; a mild detergent and soft-bristled brush can help break down any residue, but avoid harsh chemicals that can weaken the synthetic fibers. Inspect the threaded connection and handle adapter for tightness, since loose fittings can cause issues during heavy use or high-volume operation. To preserve the brush’s cleaning power and protect vehicle surfaces, replace the brush once bristles begin to fray, separate, or lose their softness. With these routine cleaning practices, your Nog Hair Multi-Level Wash Brush will continue delivering reliable, scratch-free performance for both quick touch-ups and demanding professional wash cycles.
