What are the Inserts Made of?

All of our WindMaster sign inserts are made of 3-millimeter PVC that is tough enough for outdoor use while light enough to be effortlessly moved and maneuvered. PVC, which stands for polyvinyl chloride, is a synthetic plastic polymer that is highly water resistant. This is imperative for sidewalk signs that sit outside for long periods - especially in rainy or snowy weather.

What Kind of Frames are Available?

All of our frames are made with aluminum that is durable enough to withstand outdoor use while still being lightweight for portability. They all have snap-open rails to open up the frame and inner channels to slide in 28" x 44" sign inserts. The difference between our frame products is the base. Here are the options:

Leg Brackets with Springs: These types of frames boast two tool-free assembly leg brackets with thick springs connecting the top portion of the frame to the legs. These flexing springs allow the top portion of the frame to subtly bend in the wind without snapping, breaking, or twisting the entire frame. Options for this type include the MDI 1005 and TSS PWSM. MDI has a helpful video demonstrating how to assemble the legs on a WindMaster 1005.

Leg Brackets with Springs and Wheels: The TSS PWSMR features a solid bracket connection but also includes a two-wheeled mechanism that allows you to roll the entire frame from place to place. Check out this video to see the PWSMR frame in action!

Fillable Plastic Base with Wheels: The Plasticade 1877 boasts a rounded plastic base on the bottom. You fill the base with sand or water to add weight the secures the frame in place. You can keep the frame extremely lightweight by keeping the base empty while moving it around. Plus, it has wheels to make movement even easier.

Alternative Options

Wall Mounted: If you want to place a WindMaster sign insert on a wall or flat surface like a poster, the TSS PWF44 is the perfect choice.

Pedestal Mounted: Looking for a frame that's more of a permanent installation? The TSS P28X44PS comes with a pedestal mount base that is bolted to the ground.

What are the Dimensions of a Windmaster Sign?

All WindMaster sign inserts have a standard 28" x 44" size specification. This is important to know because if you go any bigger or smaller the sign insert will not slide properly into the channels inside the frame, and you won't be able to snap the rails closed. All of our Windmaster signs match these exact dimensions, ensuring you'll get the correct fit.

WindMaster Troubleshooting

Wobbly Stance or Swaying: If you notice a WindMaster sign is not standing securely, check to ensure the base is weighted properly with sand or water, or confirm the leg brackets are assembled tightly. Check the spring hardware for wear if the sign sways too much in the wind and tighten or replace if needed.
Insert Installation Problem: If the sign insert does not slide in smoothly, inspect the frame channels for dirt or debris that could block the sign, and clean them as needed.
Side Rails Not Closing: When rails do not snap together, first confirm you are using the correct 28" x 44" insert size. If it's sized correctly, make sure it's seated evenly and not warped or damaged.
